Scientific Work Experience

Senior Data Scientist - Product Lead

Brainnwave
Jan 2023 - present

  • Brainnwave provides advanced data analytics and visualization solutions to help businesses make informed decisions using geospatial and business intelligence technologies.
  • I am Lead Data Scientist on our Great Paces Product - helping cities and developers to make sustainable decisions for livable cities. I lead the developpement of GIS indicators, manage client relationships and presente the data science underlying our platform to stakeholders at various levels.
  • As a Senior Data Scientist on our Smart Sector Intelligence platform, I design, research and implement machine learning pipelines to help city governments and investment agencies to understand their local economy and business mix by providing an AI based industry classification that addresses NAICS codes limitations.
  • I designed our MLOps infrastructure, wrote a proof-of-concept NLP pipeline that evolved into our flagship product, and I continue delivering creative solutions to solve new problems or improve parts of our product, leading to three sales in the 10,000s USD range within the quarter.
  • I worked with our Product team and our head of data science to design a quarterly week-long Data Science Hackathon.

Senior Data Scientist

The Business of Cities
Nov 2021 - Nov 2022

  • The Business of Cities is the world’s leading urban intelligence player. We provide insight and advice on cities’ identity, branding, and position within the global market.
  • I own the technology side of all data-related things for projects of various sizes: from small scale data collection such as population or road connectivity, to large scale data collection such as Google search results, news outlets articles and mobility data at the scale of a city.
  • In my daily job I mainly use Python and bash, as well ac GCP and various APIs depending on the project (Twitter, NewsAPI, OSM/OSMnx etc.)
  • During the pandemic, I was in charge of the data processing and visualisation for a monthly covid recovery report we produced for HSBC that was regularly shared to 4000+ people.
  • I oversaw the transition of one of our data dashboards from Google Data Studio to Flask and Plotly.
  • I did develop an NLP model to understand city’s branding and identity online on various platforms, using TBoC’s expert knowledge on urban problematics: this new approach represented a 10- to 100-fold increase in data volume and a 2- to 3-fold reduction of the report writing time.

Data Scientist

Mirador
Mar 2021 - Nov 2021

  • Mirador protects patients privacy by ensuring sufficient levels of anonymisation in healthcare data.
  • I ensured the anonymisation of health datasets to meet privacy compliance in the US, using Python, R and AWS.
  • I produced a dozen of reports for various clients, detailing the disclosing risk in their health datasets and making recommendation to mitigate or annihilate the risk contained in the data.
  • I took part in regular client-facing calls as the technical expert on Mirador’s end.

Data Scientist

Flexitricity
Feb 2020 - Mar 2021

  • Flexitricity is an energy optimizer that aims at making decarbonation profitable for smaller energy assets by allowing them to compete in energy markets that they usually would not be able to reach.
  • I developed and deployed several pricing and forecasts models, ranging from straightforward decision trees to a Deep Convolutional Recurrent Neural Net, with data stored locally in SQL databases or scraped from the National Grid website.
  • I produced an average of 2 weekly bespoke analysis for different desks (trading, client management, operations, C-level suite) with an emphasis on rigorous statistics, good dataviz practices and clear explanations.

Junior Researcher

Institute for Scientific Interchange
Nov 2018 - Nov 2019

  • I developed a methodology to spot and characterize gentrification using Urban Data.

Facilitation Work Experience

Executive Committee Member

euforia
Sep 2020 - Present

Supporting euforia’s journey and transformation at a distance with a role more centered on the values, identity and long-term strategy of the structure.

Online Facilitator

Sharing Perspective Foundation
Sep 2020 - Dec 2020

I was an online facilitator for SPF’s flagship program Cultural Encounters , third edition: The Big Climate Movement.

Online Facilitator trainee

Soliya
Nov 2019 - Feb 2020

I learned Soliya’s group dynamics and dialogue model and validated my training by facilitating an 8-weeks program based on cross-cultural collaboration, Connect Collaborate.

Facilitator

euforia
Nov 2016 - Nov 2019

I tailored and delivered several of euforia’s standard training events for young changemakers in France and Switzerland.

Education

MSc, Physics of Complex Systems
ENS de Lyon
2018
Ranked 3d of my class.

ENS is a top-tier French university; this program is heavily focused on computational approaches of complex systems in general (from social systems to condensed matter).

MEng, Nanotech Engineering
UCBL, INSA, ECL
2016
Ranked 1st of my class in 1st year.

This prestigious program is delivered by a consortium of Engineering and Scientific schools, highly focused on hands-on training (several dozens of hours in clean room facilities over the course of 3 semesters).

  • Thesis: Modeling of electrical response in a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector

BSc, Physics
UCBL
2014
